It wasn’t too long ago that we brought you WOLF GANG‘s Lions in Cages, an out of nowhere shocker of a blue chip with a scope the size of MGMT‘s Kids. It’s that big. With that article, we also teased to an impending remix by New Jersey electro pop whiz Dayve Hawk, a.k.a. MEMORY TAPES, who already this year has lent his genius touch to such master reworkings as TANLINES‘ Real Life and THE SILENT LEAGUE‘s Yours Truly, 2095. Here Hawk completely deconstructs Max McElligott’s gem, crafting a product that sounds almost unrecognizable, which has to be commended. The original was so good that Hawk could just have added a new drum beat and some background noise to what was an already killer track. Instead, he made it his own, built an entirely new contagious synth melody and again pinpointed the danciest aspects of the original he was using.
